I just wanted to take a quick moment to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for supporting the Subaru Performance Handbook by joining our mailing list in 2008. We have enjoyed the successful release of the 3rd Edition this year covering all models up to the MY08 range and look forward to continue to be able to provide you with the great information to help you out.
We have already seen the release of the 2009 WRX here in Australia and we will continue to update the book with great information throughout the New Year keeping you up to date with top info on the latest models as soon as they are released.
Many are lucky to get some extra time off work over the holiday season, it is a great time to put some extra work into your car as well. As we add new information to the book in the New Year we will probably not be able to keep the price as low as it is today - however, if you own the book - you will get access to any new updates we release throughout 2009 at no additional cost to you.
So, as a Christmas Gift, I have reduced the price to under $20 USD if you buy before the 25th December.
It’s Sunday afternoon here in Australia and I am currently down at the Snowy Mountains enjoying a short break with my family before the end of winter on Monday and enjoying some time on the slopes.
I think it is important to take time out from your normal routine to get away and freshen up the batteries. Now that the cold of winter is going to be behind us, I am sure you are thinking about more opportunities to give your car a good hard punt around the track and blow away some of the cobwebs under the summer sun.
If your car has been sitting around lately and not getting a regular drive then before you get back out on the track you should inspect the car for any fluid leaks or loose components. A fresh look with a different perspective may reveal something you missed before.
Pay particular attention to brake pads, discs and flexible hoses and consider having your brake system flushed and refilled with competition grade Dot 5.1 fluid if you tend to be hard on your brakes so that you are getting maximum performance right off the bat.
Its my goal to make sure you have as much fun as you can with your car. So while I was sitting back here relaxing (sorry, I don’t mean to rub it in…) it occurred to me that I should do everything I can to share my knowledge with you. I try to do that in the emails that I send you and I hope you get a lot of value from those but at the end of the day, that information is only going to get you part of the way there.
To start seeing more dramatic improvements you need to dig deep into each part of your car and see what you can achieve and one of the easiest ways that you can start to get the knowledge you need is by reading the Subaru Performance Handbook.
But I don’t want you to have to break the bank to get it.
I know there is something bugging you in the back of your mind. You have wanted this cleared up for ages but you get different advice from your mechanic and read bits and pieces on the forums.
Get your questions cleared up once and for all. And the best part is I might pay you for it.
Submit you best or most pressing Subaru question and I will be giving someone $100.
We have had a bunch of questions come in and I will start to post some of them over the coming days.
One of the most challenging so far has been from Mark at MSI who wanted to challenge Ben from EcuTek with the following:
• How different fuel injector sprays can affect combustion in quench areas!; or
• Perhaps the effect on factory roll centers on SEVERLY lowered vehicles without correcting geometry and suspension pick-up points?
Now, I am not saying that the $100 is going to the most technically challenging question! - they will be in the running but every question has a chance.
So join and get your questions in now, I want to hear from you.
I just uploaded a brand new article with some great wheel alignment tips for Subaru Impreza owners.
It talks about the front sway bars and rear sway bars as well as a pretty good explanation of toe and camber - I know lots of people who get those two confused!
If you want more information on your Subaru Impreza suspension (or any model Subaru for that matter) then make sure to join us for the upcoming teleseminar series starting on Tuesday 30th September.
One of our guests will be Jim Gurieff from Whiteline who was involved in the recent Grudge Match 2 video.

If you have questions about Subaru Impreza tuning then you want to make sure you are a part of the upcoming Subaru teleseminar series.
Ben Dagenais from EcuTek is responsible for training all of the EcuTek techs in the UK, Canada and the USA so we have grabbed one of the most knowledgable experts in the world to talk to you about Subaru tuning and the ECU.
The ECU is easily the most important piece of the performance puzzle when it comes to increasing the power of a Subaru Impreza STi or WRX engine.
The ability to re-program the mapping information contained within the Factory Subaru computer has changed the face of performance tuning forever for Subaru owners and understanding how the ECU works is vital to getting top performance from your car.
Ben will provide some great insights into the ECU and the secret answers to the tuning enhancements that your local tuner may not be aware of or might not tell you.
