Performance Engine Tuning For Your Subaru. It may come as a surprise to many, but the theory behind Subaru performance engine tuning is not nearly as complicated as it is made out to be, especially when dealing with production based equipment. Engine tuning is neither a black art, nor is it a form of magic.

Extracting power from a Subaru WRX engine is not difficult. It only requires roughly the correct ratio between fuel delivery, boost pressure and ignition advance to suit existing mechanical specifications and fuel quality. Where real genius comes into the picture, separating the men from the boys, is the speed at which a good tuner can instinctively arrive at the best possible reliable tune to suit a particular combination of parts. Another defining trait of the really talented includes an ability to quickly and efficiently diagnose problems with setup, communicating clearly and accurately what can done to improve engine operation. Does this sound like your engine tuner?

All things being equal, regardless of the type of engine management system used, professional engine tuners will always pay a great deal of respect to certain key areas of importance when tuning a turbocharged engine. In this section we will take a bit of a look at some of the considerations made when tuning for maximum power.Every industry has its own catch phrases and descriptions to sum up in a few words, rather than a whole paragraph, a statement of fact. Some of my favourite terms describing engine tuners and builders include:

“Jerry Rigging” the slash and burn perpetrated by some individuals on a vehicles electrical system when installing an aftermarket ECU.”Smoke and Mirrors” indicating that a rather large pinch of salt should be taken when describing some performance claims.”Twigs and Tape” describes the act of fitting a new part to an engine in a less than durable manner.”Playing up above their level” over-exaggerating a tuners ability. Commonly used to cast a competitor in a negative light, while singing their own praises.Keep this in mind next time you are taking your Subaru in for a service.

Subaru Impreza – Sporty, Utilitarian and AWD

Subaru Impreza – Sporty, Utilitarian and AWD

Subaru introduced the Impreza in the 1993 model year offering this vehicle in four door and five door sedans and a five door station wagon. The name is derived from the Italian word for ‘impressive party’ or ‘outstanding event.’ The Impreza was positioned as a sporty driving, utilitarian compact car available with a boxer engine and all-wheel-drive.

Imprezas are assembled in Ota and Gunma, Japan and Lafayette, Indiana, USA. They fall into the size category of Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra and Mitsubishi Lancer (and Lancer Evolution), though their followers consider them much sportier and their value retention is much higher than most of their competition.

Auto writers have long been critical of the Subaru designs for their vehicles, calling them “bland” and “boxy.” Even Subaru lovers call their designs “quirky.” All of that is changing in 2011 with the acquisition of designer Osamu Namba in 2008. His first iterations of the new Subaru designs begin with the 2011 Impreza.

As critics have said, “Subaru has the engineering down, now they are working on the designs for broader appeal to more than just a small, very loyal crowd.” The engineering must-haves are in place; all-wheel-drive, boxer engine, great handling and performance. Now they are going to have clean and simple designs so the vehicles have a strong overall presence.

The Impreza sedan will sport stronger lines as it moves away from the present rounded look. Form will follow function, however, and there will no superfluous flourishes. The cars will still be unique so as not to diminish their appeal to their almost-cult following.

Osamu Namba says that the new designs will not alienate the “faithful” as they will be more of an “evolution rather than a revolution.”

Subaru Tecnica International, the sports racing division, began tweaking the Impreza as a rally car racer, introducing the WRX and WRX STi models. These high-performance vehicles are rally competitive the world over. With little or no modifications an STi can be rallied right from the showroom floor. STi is to Subaru what Motorsport (M) Division is to BMW or AMG is to Mercedes Benz or SVT is to Ford Motor Company.

Continuing the Subaru Legacy

Continuing the Subaru Legacy

For 2007, those who simply adore the Subaru Legacy can be on the look out for more exciting things and features. The company even says that they are sending out the new version of the Subaru Legacy with a new appeal and exterior as well as a new engine for better and greater power.

If you do take a look at the new 2007 Subaru Legacy, you would simply say that overall, the facelift and the changes that were done were really subtle. But subtle as they may seem, the company disclosed that the changes were extensive. And built using supreme Subaru performance parts, the 2007 Subaru Legacy is a vehicle that is sure going to last for years and years to come.

One of the things that the 2007 Subaru Legacy 245 PS 3.0 liter model is sporting around is the fact that it has been designed and built using the very innovative ‘three engines in one’ drive system. And this kind of drive system can be also seen in all of the 2007 range of the Subaru Legacy the saloon, the Sports Tourer, and the crossover Outback versions.

The Subaru Legacy was first launched in the auto industry during the year 2004. And many experts in the field were surprised for Subaru really did launch such a vehicle so as to compete with all those leading and very popular European brands. But the Subaru Legacy proved everybody wrong for it still stands strong today and is making its way to the top. And for 2007, the Subaru Legacy would be seen sporting around with its all wheel drive chassis. It also has got all the best types of equipment one can find in the industry. The interiors are quite spacious compared to all other vehicles that the Subaru Legacy competes with. And when it comes to the vehicle’s price tag, this one is offered for a far much lower cost.
